Beer Advent Day 17: Foggy Geezer

Brewery: Warpigs Brewing (collaboration with 3 Floyds Brewing and Mikkeller)

Location: Denmark

Style: Double IPA  ABV: 8.0%

Info on beer/brewery: Tonight’s beer is from WarPigs Brewing is a collaboration between 3 Floyds Brewing (Munster, Indiana) and Danish brewer, Mikkeller.  Foggy Geezer is considered a New England IPA or Hazy IPA because it is lightly filtered, which is why you see the residue floating around your pint glass.  Go easy with the Foggy Geezer tonight because the high ABV (8.0%) is hidden.

Cheers to collaboration beers!  And cheers to navigating through a hazy season of life!

Beer Advent: As we finish the third Sunday of Advent, we anxiously await the drawing near of our King and Savior.  Just like our beer tonight was a foggy, cloudy haze in your pint glass, so the people of Israel were in a period of fog and haze.  Their hopes were being dashed by a tyrannical rule of King Herod and company.  They were groaning in anguish and hopelessness as the prophets that once prophesied about a coming time of hope and glory have all but been silenced.  It was a dark and silent time.  Maybe you are currently in a period of foggy haze.  I pray that tonight’s Old Testament reading from the prophet Zephaniah will give you hope.

Zephaniah 3:16-18

On that day the announcement to Jerusalem will be, “cheer up, don’t be afraid.  For the Lord your God has arrived to live among you.  He is a mighty Savior.  He will give you victory.  He will rejoice over you with great gladness; He will love you and not accuse you.”  Is that a joyous choir I hear?  No, it is the Lord Himself exulting over you in happy song.”
